E-Learning Solutions in Developing Foreign Language Competence for Academic Purposes: Analysis of the Ukrainian and Czech Practices

Abstract

The paper discusses problems of the e-learning and ICT enhancements in the field of the foreign language training for the academic purposes. The purpose of the article is to analyze achievements and current practices of the distance language learning in order to present a unified model providing solutions for the foreign language training of the academic staff by means of e-learning.The article pays special attention to the problems of e - learning in the field of the foreign language training of the academic staff in Ukraine and Czech Republic. The study is based upon the analyses of the policies on in this field and experiences of ICT implementation in the countries. The study discusses main scenarios of e-learning in the foreign language teaching for academic purposes - distance learning, blended learning and ICT-enhanced learning – in the countries under consideration. It allows to draw out a set of principles for elaborating a unified model aimed at providing solutions for the language training of the academic staff by means of e-learning.
